Sonia Anne Schaeberle

Sonia Anne Frantzman Schaeberle, formerly of Alfred, New York, and most recently of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family and friends.

Born in Cooperstown, New York, Sonia was a graduate of Wheaton High School in Maryland. She went on to build a long and respected career at St. James Hospital in Hornell, New York, where she worked in the Human Resources department for more than 30 years. Her compassion, dedication, and friendly nature touched the lives of countless colleagues and employees throughout her career.

Sonia was the beloved wife of Michael Schaeberle, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership for over 63 years of marriage. She took immense pride in supporting her husband's career and loved being a swim coach's wife. Michael served as Head Coach of the Alfred University Men's Swim Team for over 25 years, and Sonia was a devoted supporter of the program.

Sonia especially cherished the years spent living on Keuka Lake in New York. Whether enjoying the beauty of the lake, spending time with family, or sharing laughter with friends, those years brought her great joy and some of her fondest memories.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael; her three children, Tim (Alison); Cary (Diane); and Theresa. She was a proud grandmother to Cameron, Eric, and Alyssa, all of whom brought tremendous happiness to her life. She is also survived by her brother, Albert Frantzman Jr. and her sister, Mary Ellen Colvin (Frank), as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

A memorial mass will be offered in her memory. The committal service will be held on September 4 at 12:00 p.m. at Mount Rose Cemetery, York, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alfred University Swimming Team, a cause close to Sonia’s heart.
