

Roger had a distinguished military career, retiring as colonel from the US Army Transportation Corps. He received two Bronze Stars for meritorious service in ground operations against hostile forces during his two tours in Vietnam as well as three Army Commendation Medals, The Legion of Merit and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.
He is survived by wife, Mary Bryant; daughter, Katri Hakola; step-son, Brody Bryant; wife, Karina, and their children, Brooke and Brody, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Terrance Kearney of Durham, NC; nieces, Sandra Gustafson of Brevard, NC, and Lori Kearney of Hillsborough, NC.
Upon retirement, Roger moved to Orlando, FL, and became an active member and president of the Retired Officer's Club of Orlando. He worked as a substitute teacher for the Orange County Public School system when he first arrived, then he golfed and worked part-time as a ranger at Dubsdread Golf Course for many years.
Private services will be held at a later date.
