He was born on July 30, 1944 in Malden, Massachusetts where he loved growing up with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all living in the same neighborhood.
Bob graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Bob worked at various jobs around the Boston and Rhode Island area for years before finally ending up in Iowa at West Central Cooperative, a farmers co-op. Not knowing much about farming, he was Executive Vice President of Administration and CIO in charge of Finance, Human Resources, Computer Systems, Phone Systems, and Public Relations. Bob loved Iowa, the people, and he loved his job at West Central, retiring after 10 years in 2008 and moving to Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Bob was on the Board of Directors for Solana Lake Condominium Association for several years. He also was on a community golf league, loved reading mystery novels, and spending time with neighbors and friends. He loved traveling up to Massachusetts during summer months to spend time with his children, grandchildren, family members and friends. Bob was a well-loved Grandpa and especially proud of his 10 grandchildren and even though he was far away from them, he made sure to spend quality time with them every summer. He was also available for phone calls and texts to offer his love and support and maintained a very close relationship with all 10 of them over the years.
Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, stepson, Ray Horton, and several cousins. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, children, Robyn Serody (Andrew), Michael Goldstein (Christine), Kerri Weed (Jamie), Kimberly Carlone (Jonathan), sister, Arlene Sugarman, ten grandchildren, Alex and Austin Serody, Emily and Megan Goldstein, Madison and Melanie Weed, Jagger and Audrey Pacheco, and Samantha and America Carlone, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
