Peter “Pete” DeRosa, 78, passed away the 3rd of May, 2023 peacefully at his home in Winter Springs, Florida after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date TBD this summer.
Pete was born on March 1, 1945 in the Bronx, New York to Mary and Joseph DeRosa. Later, he was raised in Hicksville (Long Island) with his parents and three siblings, sisters, Linda and Florence and brother Joe. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University, Pete began a fulfilling and successful 37 year career with Westinghouse and Siemens/Westinghouse holding several management positions in different areas including Nuclear Service Division and Product Engineering manager with Westinghouse Power Generation Business unit.
A cancer survivor, Pete used his time in retirement to grow with purpose and participate as a volunteer Foundation Board member of the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute, and several other charities such as (CECO) Conductive Education Center of Orlando, and the American Cancer Society. Family time, reading, regular exercise, social activities, community service and his dear friends of many years were very special to him.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rebecca, daughters Jennifer (Mike Hinckle) of Winter Springs, FL and Lisa (Shannon Arnold) of Ocoee, FL , grandchildren, Shelby, Carson and Wyatt, siblings of Long Island, New York, Linda Sulyma (Leah Staudt) , Florence Franchino and Joe (Jean) DeRosa. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary and father, Joseph. Special thanks to the Advent Health Physical therapist, Occupational therapist, Advent Health Hospice and critical care nurse team for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring Pete can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CECO Conductive Education Center of Orlando, or the American Cancer Society.
