Patrick Brian Mahaffey of Lakeland, Florida unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the age of 76. He was born on August 22, 1946 in Coldwater, Michigan where he was raised by his loving parents alongside his 2 younger sisters. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1964 and remained in the area where he worked as an apprentice plumber for his father. Patrick eventually became a Master Plumber himself and purchased the family business, Mahaffey Plumbing. In 2005, he closed his business to move to Florida where he was employed as the Master Plumber Specialist at Home Depot, first in Fort Myers and then in Lakeland. He was actively involved in many fraternal organizations including the Eagles, Moose, Sons of the American Legion, VFW, and Elks where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1973-1974.

He is survived by his loving wife Mickey Mahaffey, sisters Cheryl Rodesiler of Angola IN and Janis (Jim) Hoard of Coldwater MI, daughters Deborah (Robin) Wallace of North Fort Myers FL, Tracey (Patrick) Elvis of Conway SC, Jamie (Chris) Clarke of Silver Springs FL, Lindie McKenzie of Saginaw MI, grandchildren Bobby (Bonnie) Barnett, Tyler Barnett, Robin Jr. (Hannah) Wallace, Jason Wallace, Steven Elvis, Mikayla Elvis, Jennifer Elvis, Jacob Bryant, Olivia Clarke, Isabella Clarke, Gianna Clarke, Kadence McKenzie, 7 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Julie Stratos, and many nieces and nephews.
Patrick had a contagious laugh and an infectious smile that lit up every room he entered. Everyone who knew him loved him for his kind and generous heart. His family and friends were always a priority, but especially his wife, soulmate, and best friend, Mickey, who was his whole world. You could always hear him saying, “yes dear” to anything she needed or wanted. Patrick was always ready for a good time, a drink or game with friends, a trip to the beach, or a chat about life. He enjoyed a round of golf, bowling, boating, traveling, and collecting Jack Daniels memorabilia. Patrick will be missed by the countless people whose lives he touched.
The family would like to thank the paramedic team and the ICU staff at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. In addition, they would like to express gratitude to the staff at Neptune Society in the coordination of Patrick’s final wishes and cremation.
There will be no services held at this time; however, a celebration of life may follow at a later date.
