Olanda Tera Johnson, affectionately known as “Doll,” passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the age of 72. She was born on October 31, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to the union of Esmond A. Johnson Jr. and Maxine (Williamson) Johnson. Olanda was raised in Chicago, where she built a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections.
She pursued higher education at Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition. She dedicated her career to serving others as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Chicago Public School System before later working for the Illinois Department of Employment Security, where she retired.
Olanda was known for her infectious laughter, radiant smile, and kind spirit. She had a deep appreciation for music, art, reading, and cooking—interests that she shared with those she loved. A woman of faith, she accepted Christ and was baptized as a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Esmond Jr. and Maxine, and her brother, Esmond III (“Buddy”).
Olanda is survived by her beloved sister, Wanda; nephews, Joshua, Esmond IV (“Bryan”), and Christopher; niece, Jessica; great-nephews, Mortaz, Carter, and Donovan; as well as a host of cherished cousins and friends.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to AdventHealth Home Hospice for their care and compassion during Olanda’s final days.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation will be handled by the Neptune Society, and a private scattering of ashes will take place in Florida at a later date
