After high school, Mickey enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He later worked as an air traffic controller and a bus driver in New York City before moving to South Florida, where he spent a long career with BellSouth (later AT&T). After retiring from the phone company, he started his own handyman business and was known to the family as "Mr. Fix It." Eventually, he and his wife moved to the greater Orlando area to enjoy retirement and be closer to one of their daughters. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and watching his favorite sports teams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Ervin; his sister, Ruth; his daughter Lisa; and his sons, Kenny and Ricky.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; his daughters, Erika, Doreen (Danny), Debbie (Eric), Stacy, and Shana (Troy); his son, Michael (Rebecca); and 10 grandchildren.
The family would like to thank AdventHealth Davenport for the care and compassion shown to him in his final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his honor to the Honor Flight Network (honorflight.org).
