Marilyn Joan Ferrant, 96, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Born to Joseph and Laura Golart in Gloucester, Massachusetts, she was one of 6 children. Marilyn attended Central Grammar school and graduated from Gloucester High School in May of 1947. After high school, she worked as a telephone operator in the community. She started dating Andrew (Andy) Ferrant, who also grew up in Gloucester, when he and his twin brother Bob came home from the U.S. Navy after 4 years. Bob dated Marilyn's sister, Betty, on their double dates and on August 1, 1948, the four of them had a double wedding and then honeymooned together in the Pocono Mountains. Andy remained in the Navy serving for 23 years as he and Marilyn traveled to several states and to Bermuda. They were married for 67 years. In 1966 when Andy retired from the Navy, they moved to Winter Park, FL.
Marilyn was always active in schools, churches and the community wherever they lived. She was a wonderful seamstress and made beautiful clothes for her daughters, herself and friends through the years. In the early 1970's, she became a member of the Central Florida Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America and learned many different types of embroidery skills including Hardanger, black work, crewel, and had many of her amazing works included in different shows of the EGA through the years. She enjoyed so much learning and being with her friends in her stitching group.
Marilyn's one true treasure and love in her life was always her family. She'd do anything for them and enjoyed being with them, laughing with them, expressing her love to them every chance she had. We will all miss her so very much.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew (Andy) Ferrant, daughter Marcia Karen, brother Milton (Margie), sisters Vicki (Rolly), Janice (Dale), Betty (Bob), and Cynthia (Danny). She is survived by daughter Andrea (Jeff) Danjou, grandsons Scott (Treeva), Shawn, Jason and Charlie, Great-Grandchildren Kennedy Grace, Kaleb Scott, Tabitha, Katlyn (Dylan), and six Great-Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
