It is with great sadness that we announce that Margaret Anderson "Peggy" Kelly, 83, passed away Jan. 14, 2025, in Kissimmee, FL. Born Nov. 29, 1941, in Macon, GA, she was the daughter of Thomas F. and Carol M. (Anderson) Smith. Peggy grew up in cities throughout the South, graduating from Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville, FL. From there she attended the University of Florida, earning a B.S. degree in Nursing. Shortly after, she joined the Army Nurse Corps, serving with compassion and distinction at the 93rd Evac Hospital in Long Binh, Vietnam, and other military installations. After retiring from the Army as Captain, she continued nursing until she fully retired after 50 years of caring for others.
Peggy was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and great friend with a beautiful caring soul, and a radiant smile. She enjoyed listening to music, travel, reading, going to the beach, good conversation and ice-cold Coca-Colas.
She is survived by four children, Brigid, Ryan (Melissa), Erinn and Sean Kelly; seven grandchildren, Haven, Payton, Liam, Quentin, Colin, Leighton and Vincent; brother Mike (Pam) Smith and sister Ellen Hogan; nieces Kristen Klaassen, Katy Strascina and Meghan Tauber. She was predeceased by her parents and niece Kathleen Hogan.
Although Peggy is gone, she will forever live in our hearts. A celebration of life will be at a later date. Details to follow soon.
