Louise Higdon, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away at the age of 82 on September 24, 2026, in Altamonte Springs, Florida. She was born on October 4, 1943, in Orlando, Florida.
She worked for many years as an inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture, serving the state of Florida with dedication and pride. Her greatest joy was found in the things closest to her heart—her home, her flowers, and most importantly, her family. She was also a longtime member of the Orioles in her community, where she spent many years enjoying the friendships, fellowship, and memories that became part of her life.
Louise experienced the heartbreak of losing those she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Higdon and Leona Pulsifer; her former husband, DeVaughn L. Higdon Sr.; her sisters, Delores and Dorothy; her son, Jason Royce Higdon; her daughter, Dana Butller; her grandsons, Jason Royce Higdon, Jr. and Jacob Higdon and Chris Butler.
She leaves behind her eldest son, DeVaughn L. Higdon Jr., and his wife, Linda; her son-in-law, Roger Butler; three grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and, of course, her best friend of forty years, Little Judy.
The family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of the personnel at Lotus Rehab and to all of the hospice workers who cared for Louise during her time on hospice and especially during her final days.
Family and friends are invited to join together to celebrate Louise's life and share memories of a woman who touched so many hearts.
The Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Bear Lake Clubhouse, located at 3324 Holliday Avenue, Apopka, Florida 32703, on Thursday, October 15 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Casual dress attire is welcome and perfectly appropriate. Louise asked that Blue be worn in her memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
