Joseph "Joe" Fisher, Jr., affectionately known as "Sonny" to his family, passed away September 19, 2024. Born on February 12, 1940, in Walterboro, SC, he was the fifth of eight children born to Joseph and Georgia Fisher. In his early years, Joe's family moved to West Palm Beach, FL, where he quickly displayed his strong work ethic. As a teenager, he began delivering newspapers before school, and worked at Mr. Falana's BBQ, where he became known as the "King of BBQ." Joe’s talents extended beyond cooking—he ventured into the world of music, singing with The Chanteers. Following his time in the US Army, where he proudly served his country, Joe discovered his passion for radio. Known on the airwaves as "BIG FISH," he became a beloved figure, leaving an unforgettable mark in the broadcasting world.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Fisher, two devoted daughters, four grandchildren, two sisters, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large circle of friends. He was a man full of ambition and heart, who touched many lives along his journey. A service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on October 26, 2024, 12:00 pm – 3:00pm, at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through the love and memories he leaves behind.
