Gerald K. Marckres of Sebring, Florida passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the age of 98. He was born to Aldis and Susie Marckres on June 6, 1923 in Craftsbury, Vermont where he grew up with three other siblings on a farm near Craftsbury Common. He married Dorothy M. Rollins, now deceased, on May 25, 1946. He is a WWII Army Veteran serving in France, Belgium, Germany, Czechoslovakia and France.
He worked as a milk processing plant manager and then retired from the State of Vermont Agricultural Division.
He was actively involved in The American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Mason’s. He avidly enjoyed golf and hunting.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Rollins, brother, Wilbur Marckres, sister, Alma Goodwin and sister, Barbara Barber.
He is survived by his son Richard Marckres, his daughter Gail Bissonnette, 5 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren and three nieces and multiple cousins.
Our dad was the best dad anyone could hope for. His caring and compassion and sense of pride of his family will always be remembered.
The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days. We can never thank Chris and Linda enough for their care and compassion during dad’s final hours with us.
Interment to follow at The Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington, Vermont at a later date this coming spring where his ashes will be laid to rest next to his wife.
