George Larry Lewis

Larry was born August 4, 1947, in Waverly, Tennessee. He spent most of his early years in Miami, FL, before settling in Christmas, FL. He served his country in the U.S. Army; the role he valued most was as a photographer during the Vietnam War. It was a role that reflected both his steady eye and his quiet dedication to duty.

After his service, Larry built a respected career as a master carpenter. A craft he approached with skill and pride. His hands shaped countless projects over the years, culminating in a lifelong dream: building his own beautiful home. Outside of work, Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a U.S Coast Guard-licensed captain and operated charter fishing trips both offshore and inland. Upon retiring, Larry dedicated himself to two new passions: first, beekeeping (and the honey was great) and woodworking. His remarkable talent and creativity produced beautiful, handcrafted pieces from a variety of woods, including bowls, cutting boards, vases, and canes — some of which became treasured gifts for those he loved. He enjoyed blues music, and his favorite holiday of all time was Thanksgiving. Larry was an easygoing guy. Everyone that met him liked him. He was great with kids. Larry was always there for everyone when he was needed.

Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia, and three children, Becky (Bill), Tommy (Tammy), and Carolynne; five grandchildren, Samantha, Shannan, Hans, Hunter, and Haylen; three great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Lewis.

Larry’s family would like to thank Cornerstone Hospice for the compassion and care they provided during his final days.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
