Elizabeth (Betsy) Young, age 73, passed away peacefully and serenely on September 11, 2024.
Born in Middletown, Ohio, Betsy's journey took her through Indianapolis, Indiana, and Columbus, Ohio, before she returned to Middletown. She devoted many years to Akers Packaging, where she built lasting friendships and retired as the Corrugated Scheduling Manager in 2013.
Betsy's life was filled with love. This year, she celebrated 29 years of marriage to Donald Young. Together, they embarked on adventures and traveled the world before settling in Florida in 2021.
Betsy will be remembered for her boundless kindness, her caring spirit, and her unwavering love for those around her. She was always ready to lend an ear or offer advice, her heart of gold shining through. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Betsy is survived by her children, James (Robin) McClellan and Lora (Floyd) Arnold, her stepchildren Donald Jr., Pam (Earl) Dawson, Ron (Michelle) Young, Terri (Bill) Freitas, Christine Young, and Chuck (Chuck) Young, her grandchildren Brandon Hill, Andrew, Elizabeth (James) Brown, Anthony Arnold, Ashley (Lestel) Bledsoe, James Michael, Amber McClellan, seven great-great grandchildren, and 17 step-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James & Joann (Skimming) Smith, her sister Catherine E Manning, and her cherished husband, Donald Young.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Great Smoky Mountains where her and Don’s ashes will be scattered. An intimate gathering for the Florida family will be held at the Bancroft residence to honor Betsy's remarkable life. Additional details will be shared with family and friends as they become available.
