Libby was born on February 20, 1934 in Live Oak, Florida to James Clyde and Mae Dell Brannan.
She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida where she graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1952. After high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Eugene “Gene” Manning in 1953. Libby’s husband Gene joined the Air Force where she traveled the world for 22 years as they were stationed in Texas, Alabama, Okinawa, Washington, Montana, Delaware, and South Carolina, then retired in Fernandina Beach, Florida
Later in retirement, Libby with husband Gene, settled down in New Smyrna Beach, Florida where they enjoyed boating and fishing. Libby was mostly a homemaker and was very talented in reupholstering furniture, sewing, and cake decorating. She loved to swim, travel, but mostly play dominos with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Sharon Manning of Lake Mary; Debra (Jack) Hoffman of Winter Springs; and Robert Eugene (Jennifer) Manning Jr of Oviedo; son-in-law Kevin Searcy of Jacksonville; and brother James Brannan of Jacksonville. Libby was a loving grandmother to Tiffany Grogan, Weston Hutt, Christopher Searcy, Lauren Hutt, Julia Hoffman, Ethan Manning, Jaclyn Hoffman, Brady Manning, Caden Manning and great-grandchild Wyatt Hutt.
Libby was preceded in death by her husband Robert Manning; daughter Cythina Searcy; parents James Clyde and Mae Dell Brannan; sisters Evie Jean Carroll, Linda Jeanette Rouse, Shirley Arpen; and granddaughter Stephanie Searcy.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, March 10 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. Highway 1, North Mims, Florida 32754. A reception to celebrate Libby’s life will be held after the ceremony at her son’s house in Oviedo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to “Samaritan’s Purse”.
