In 1958, Linda immigrated to Florida where she built a remarkable life both personally and professionally. When she moved to the United States she was fluent in five languages and had graduated university in Brazil. She married Dennis Ray Spring that same year in North Miami Beach and together they shared 56 years of marriage until his passing in 2014. Linda was a devoted mother to her three children—Gina, Maia, and Dennis—and cherished her role as grandmother to five grandchildren: Jordan, Jamison, Trey, Zachary, and Matthew. She also delighted in being a great-grandmother to Dexter, Breandan, and Riley. Her extended family includes several cousins in Brazil.
Linda had a distinguished career in public service as an accountant, serving the State of Florida in various capacities. Her roles included positions at Miami-Dade Junior College, Florida State University, the Department of Revenue, the Department of Retirement, and the Department of Transportation/Turnpike. Her dedication and expertise left a lasting impact on those she worked with and her children.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Linda was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a Master Gardener who found joy in nurturing plants and creating beauty through her artistry with both plants and multimedia. An avid reader with an insatiable curiosity for knowledge, she was also an active member of the FSU Extra Point Club founded by Ann Bowden in 1979 and a proud Booster with an Endowment.
Linda’s legacy is one of love and devotion to her family, FSU and her community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her best. May her life continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in it. We love you, until we meet again.
