Dale Warrington Lord-Haas (b May 23, 1950) passed away unexpectedly on February 20th 2025 at VAMC Orlando. Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Robin, whom he cherished deeply. He also leaves behind his children: Dale Thomas, Steven (Christine), Kristy Nagel, Robert Schaeffer (Heather), and Hillary Mihalich (Trevor). His 14 grandchildren—Brian, Trenton, Madison, Gina, Matthew, Riley, Olivia, Trinity, Molly, Bailey, Joseph, Scarlett, Austin, and Landon—brought him immense joy. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings Dennis, Brian, and Sandy and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Dale Warrington Haas and Theodora Haas.
Dale served in the United States Navy from January 1969 until his retirement in September 1991. As a Missile Technician in the Submarine Service, he completed multiple patrols aboard the USS Mariano Vallejo and the USS Robert E. Lee. His time in the Navy was a source of great pride for him. Following his military career, he worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad until an early-onset Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis forced him to retire.
A man of quiet determination and skillful hands, Dale had a passion for model railroading as well as building model planes and rockets. He had a knack for fixing things and often said that if he couldn’t fix something, it wasn’t truly broken. Robin affectionately called him a "Doozer" because of his love for tinkering in the garage or working on his trains daily. Model train shows and hobby shops were his guilty pleasure and anytime he travelled he would find the closest places to his destination and make sure to visit.
Dale also loved cruising; he and Robin embarked on more than 40 cruises together over the years. Though not particularly social by nature, he treasured time spent with family and enjoyed attending Navy reunions to reconnect with shipmates who shared in his experiences at sea.
A Military Honors service and burial will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in Dale’s memory.
