Betty L. Dakel, 96, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Strive Senior Living Facility in Fern Park, Florida. She was born Betty Lou Hatfield on October 15, 1926, in Chillicothe, Ohio. After graduating North High School in Columbus, Ohio, she met her husband Bob at a roller skating rink. After he returned home from serving in WWII, they were married on April 21, 1946, in Columbus, where they remained while raising their two sons. In August of 1981, they moved to Apopka, Florida, where they would eventually retire. Betty worked for Sears for over 20 years, and later worked alongside her husband making wood crafts that they would sell at shows.
Betty loved the Lord, attending Church regularly throughout her life. She enjoyed music. She and Bob sang in several Gospel groups together. She liked to grow roses and work in their backyard garden, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Betty leaves behind her two sons: Stephen (Jan) Dakel, Mark (Karen) Dakel; her five grandchildren: Joshua (Lupita) Dakel, Kiara Dakel, Kyle Dakel, Justin (Jennifer) Dakel and Timothy Dakel; and her four great-grandchildren: Hunter, Wes, Finn and Gabriel, all of whom brought her great joy and happiness in her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Robert Lewis Dakel; her parents: Bertha Irene (Graves) and William Henry Hatfield, and her two sisters: Erma Cath¬ern Patterson and Mary Jean Wooster.
Betty was dearly loved and memories of her will be cherished forever.
