It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony John Bucci, Jr. who departed this world on October 23, 2023, at the age of 80. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever live in our hearts.
Born on January 8, 1943, in Amsterdam, NY to the late Anthony John Bucci, Sr. and Lorraine B (Horton) Bucci, he grew up in Rotterdam Jct., NY and was a beloved child, sibling, and friend to many. He was known for his good nature and his mischievous humor.
After graduating from Schalmont High School, he entered the Navy attending an advanced training school to become a Gunnery Fire and Control Technician and served aboard the USS Hugh Purvis from 1962 – 1965. After the Navy he moved to Rochester, NY and started a job at the Eastman Kodak company where he ended up retiring as an Emulsification Production Manager overseeing the film production lines. While working at Eastman Kodak and raising a family, he attended night school at Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated with a AS degree in Chemical Engineering.
After retiring he moved to Longwood, FL where he got involved in multiple charitable organizations that touched many people’s lives. He volunteered at the American Red Cross, he became a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, a life member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and a very active member of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, where he facilitated the local Orange/Seminole County Multiple Sclerosis Support group for ten years.
Anthony enjoyed bowling, Magic Basketball games and especially spending time with family and friends.
He was beloved by all, and his kindness, love, and guidance will be dearly missed by his surviving family, which includes his daughters, Briana Kelley, Marla Figliuzzi (Marcus) and his son, Adam Bucci (Coral Huffman), his grandchildren, Brooke Kelley, Ryan Kelley, Elissa Figliuzzi, Julia Figliuzzi and Anthony D. Bucci, his Brother John Bucci (Linda) and his sister Audrey Knoblaugh (Robert) along with Nieces, Nephews and numerous Cousins. He cherished the bonds he formed throughout his journey, including the enduring friendship with Madeline Bucci. Though their paths took them in different directions, the respect and shared memories from childhood onward endured, reflecting the compassion and resilience that defined Anthony’s character.
The family would like to thank two special care givers, Alba Munoz and Gloria Philip, for the care and compassion they showed to him over the years.
A memorial mass to honor and celebrate Anthony's life will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church on November 14th at 9:45am. All friends and family are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
