December 14, 1938–October 25, 2023
Alice Fadden Pinder, “Peewee”, of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away on October 25, 2023 at the age of 84 after a gallant five-year battle with lung cancer. She was born on December 14, 1938 to Brownlow John Fadden and Violet Brodrick Fadden in New London, Connecticut. Alice was the second youngest sibling in a family of eight children that included five girls and three boys who loved each and were all best friends.
Alice grew up in an extremely tight knit family. As a commander in the Coast Guard, her father was away on assignment extensively so her mother stewarded the family as they travelled across country to each new base assignment. Because the family moved so frequently, Violet, “Mimi”, encouraged her children to stick together and support each other throughout life. Through good times and hard times Alice and her siblings have followed through on this indelible legacy, knowing their parents would be proud of them for always being there for each other. Always happy and carefree, Alice was known for being the life of family gatherings, and she is already sorely missed.
After moving many times across country, from New London, Connecticut, to Ketchikan, Alaska, to St. Louis, Missouri, to New Orleans, Louisiana, to Riverdale, Maryland, and finally to Coral Gables, Florida, Alice graduated from Coral Gables High School and later attended Miami Dade College to support her professional career. She was an exception to every rule throughout her thirty-nine year career as a successful and well-regarded banker with The Bank of Riverside, which later became Sun Bank, then SunTrust, and is now known as Truist. Alice began working in 1958 as a platform employee serving clients. Over many years of grit and persistence, she broke through the glass ceiling with hard work, commitment and dedication to her profession. Gaining the respect of her male supervisors, Alice ultimately was promoted to become one of the first vice presidents and branch managers at the bank where she was loved and admired by her clients, employees and bank executives.
From a young age, one of Alice’s passions was dancing. She and her brother Bill spent many hours dancing at home, parties, and even competitions. The jitterbug was their dance of choice; they won many competitions and were even featured on a local TV show called Cobb’s Corner, WTVJ. Alice also loved the water and boating with her husband, Art Pinder, who was a champion spear fisherman renown throughout the world. Alice and Art enjoyed many adventures together; safari in Africa, tours of Alaska, adventures in the Bahamas, and trips to their ranch in South Dakota. Alice had a compassionate heart and was committed to helping others. For many years, she served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Palm Bay, Florida until she fell ill herself. Throughout her illness, Alice continued to help anyone in need—emotionally, financially and spiritually. She was one-of-a-kind.
Alice is preceded in death by her father, Brownlow John Fadden; mother, Violet Brodrick Fadden; son, Edward Efrian Correa; sisters, Marguerite Fadden Christianson and Googie Fadden Sanchez; husband, Arthur Ward Pinder; and special friend, Skillman Suydam.
Those left to cherish her memory include Alice’s daughters, Debra Alice Tyler and Zoraida Diaz; brother’s, William Edward Fadden (Linda), Brownlow Joseph Fadden, and Paul Fadden (Pat); sisters, Ruth Waters (John), and Dorothy Hinkle; and many nieces and nephews who also loved her dearly.
Alice’s family would like to extend love and appreciation to Dana Blackwell, Pollyann Bennett, and all the other wonderful caregivers, for their kindness and compassion shown to Alice throughout the past year and especially in her final months and days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St Joseph’s Catholic Church; 5330 Babcock St NE, Palm Bay, Florida 32905, on November 17, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Family visitation will begin at 10 a.m. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow the Mass in downtown Melbourne, Florida at Hotel Melby, 801 E Strawbridge Avenue, Melbourne, Florida 32901.

To all who knew her Alice was one-of-a-kind—an amazing mother, sister, wife, friend, and professional. She was a humble, gracious, giving, forgiving, classy, witty, and beautiful inside and out kind of person. She will be deeply missed and fondly loved and remembered always.
