Yvonne was born in Raton NM, to Lawrence and Edith Jacques. One of three children, Yvonne had an older brother Charles (Bill) Turner and a younger sister Jeanette White. Yvonne attended Raton High School where she enjoyed playing the clarinet as a member in the marching band. Her junior year of high school she fell in love with her soon to be husband, Robert Scarafiotti (Bob). They married in Trinidad, CO July 6th, 1955, her brother Bill was the best man and Shirley Buscarine her maid of honor.
After high school graduation, the young newlyweds began their careers in Raton. Yvonne worked at the local telephone company while her husband Bob quickly excelled as an auto mechanic. In June of 1956 Yvonne and Bob welcomed their first and only child, Terry Scarafiotti into their family. A few years later Bob, Yvonne and Terry left Raton and moved to Albuquerque. Yvonne briefly worked as a bookkeeper for Albuquerque National Bank and Sears while her husband Bob continued in the automotive industry where he gained a reputation as one of the best mechanics in the Albuquerque area. Yvonne and Bob were able to purchase their first home in 1962.
Yvonne later attended the University of New Mexico, receiving a Bachelors of nursing in 1976. Deciding that nursing was not her calling, Yvonne went into real estate in 1978 where she began selling and listing houses. Yvonne quickly became good at what she did and received her broker’s license. As a side gig, Bob and Yvonne also began flipping houses in the Albuquerque area. In the late 80s, Yvonne started planning and designing her dream home in Sandia Heights. Yvonne truly had an eye for design and made her dreams come to life when Bob and Yvonne built their forever home at the base of the Sandia Mountains. Yvonne’s beautiful home was her pride and joy. Her most cherished memories were made there with friends and family, hosting countless Thanksgivings, Christmas's, birthday parties and social events.
Yvonne and Bob enjoyed traveling and were fortunate to see the world. In 1994 Yvonne’s husband Bob passed away at the young age of 55 from lung cancer. After Bob’s passing, Yvonne found peace in painting. Her watercolors were works of art, winning her several awards in the local artist community. She drew inspiration from her worldly travels and loved recreating scenes from her many trips.
During her retirement, Yvonne enjoyed spoiling her two grandchildren. Yvonne is survived by her sister Jeanette White, her son Terry Scarafiotti, her grandchildren Jesse and Tyler and three great grandchildren, Nora, Beckett and Preslie. Preceding her in death was her mother Edith, father Lawrence and brother Charles. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to one of Yvonne's favorite charities, “Best Friends” in her name.
