

William James “Jim” Duffield passed peacefully away on November 13, 2024. He was the son of Wilbur B. and Evelyn L. (Duckwall) Duffield. He was born in 1948 and grew up in Preble County Ohio, graduating from Jackson TWP High School in 1962. He graduated from Miami University and obtained a Master’s degree from the University of Michigan. He worked for Dames and Moore as an environmental engineer for many years. He left them to work for Shell Oil on their shale oil projects in Colorado and Wyoming for a number of years. Following that, he operated a nursery business in Denver, CO. He retired from the Battelle Institute, where worked supporting their environmental remediation contract operations at Rocky Flats Nuclear Power Plant in Colorado. He resided in Denver, CO, before moving to Albuquerque, NM. He traveled throughout the world and enjoyed visiting many countries. He especially enjoyed flowers and horticulture. He was grateful to have had many wonderful friends throughout his life.
He succumbed from COVID-related illness at the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he received loving care in the final weeks of his life. We are very appreciative of the support and care by the nurses and doctors there. We also appreciate the caring visits by his dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his brother George (Marsha), his niece Michelle (Greg) VanWiggeren, his nephew Robert (Tasha) Duffield and their families. Grandnephews Daniel VanWiggeren, Timothy VanWiggeren, Morgan Duffield and grandniece Jamisyn Duffield.
