Wayne Allen Maley was born on the farm in Stanley, Iowa, on March 9, 1927, and died at home in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on October 5, 2025. He volunteered for the US Navy during WWII and then completed a BS in Agricultural Engineering at Iowa State University. In 1959, he married Marianne Nelson, with whom he had three children, James, Mary, and Mark.
Wayne loved singing, participating in church choirs for over 75 years, wherever he lived. He enjoyed sailing on small lakes in Pennsylvania and on Lake Michigan.
After a career working to improve farming, he contributed his expertise to the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) as well as technical aid programs in Michigan, eastern Europe, and Zimbabwe. He retired to Las Cruces where he volunteered at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum for over 20 years.
Wayne also gave his time to Christian organizations serving in leadership in Presbyterian churches (pcusa.org) wherever he lived and on the first board of directors of ECHO which equips and empowers hungry families with knowledge and the life-giving grace of God (echonet.org).
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 2 pm in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, 200 E Boutz Rd, Las Cruces.
