Walter Paul Ernst

Walter Paul Ernst age 63, passed peacefully on December 24, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Walt was born on May 30, 1955 in Hamilton Ontario, Canada to Walter and Renate Ernst. He grew up in Garden Grove, CA and graduated from Santiago High School and from Cal State Long Beach. He started working for the U.S. Postal Service in 1973 and after working at the Post office in Santa Ana, CA transferred to the main Post Office in Albuquerque where he worked until retiring in 2014.

Walt enjoyed going to the local casinos and tried to get to Las Vegas at least once a year. He was a diehard Rams fan all his life no matter where they were based. His greatest joys in life were his two sons Phillip and Michael, his granddaughter Mackenzie and visiting with family.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Renate, and grandchild Ethan Indiana Ernst. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Ernst; son Phillip Ernst (Chelsey); Michael Ernst (Angie); sister Doris Robertson; brother, Fred Ernst (Becky); brother, Ed Ernst (Jackie); grandchild Mackenzie Ernst many nieces and nephews and all beloved extended family.

A memorial service followed by a reception will be held on January 10 at 10am at Trinity Family Church 6101 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114
