Shirley Ann McLain Nimmo
Shirley Ann McLain Nimmo, born June 9, 1937, in Laverne, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at the age of 87.
Shirley grew up in Stockton, California, before settling in Las Cruces, where she spent the majority of her adult life. A devoted mother and homemaker, Shirley dedicated herself to raising her children before beginning a second career in medical transcription at the local hospital. She worked diligently until her retirement at age 65.
Family was always at the heart of Shirley's life. She lovingly cared for her former husband, Ralph Crawford, until his passing. On April 7, 2011, she married Tom Nimmo, who remained her devoted companion and caregiver throughout her final years.
Shirley found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved listening to music, getting lost in a good novel, and cheering on her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, every football season. Her warmth, quiet strength, and dedication to her family defined her life and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Nimmo; her daughters Molly Crawford of Las Cruces, NM, Rochelle Mitchel and Rene Jamulitrat, both of Shreveport, LA; her daughter-in-law Annita Crawford of San Antonio, TX; her brother Jerry McLain; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her son Robert Crawford, her former husband Ralph Crawford, her sisters Lois, Leila, and Johnna, and her brothers Joe and Don.
Shirley will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kind spirit, and the simple joys she embraced throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
