Samuel James Sawyer

Pastor Samuel James Sawyer, age 82, of Albuquerque, went to be with his Lord Sunday, April 30. Pastor Sawyer earned his BA degree from Buffalo State Teachers College. He taught art in New Berlin Public Schools; attended and graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1963. Pastor Sawyer also attended classes at the University of Minnesota and Northwestern College in Minnesota; served churches in Des Moines, IA, St. Louis Park, MN, Cokato, MN, Rio Rancho, NM, Albuquerque, NM, and Sun City West, AZ. He is survived by wife, Gail; 3 children, Sheila Jean, Stephen James, and Shawn Jeffrey Sawyer; 6 grandchildren, Amanda Emily, Jacob, Adrien, Flora, and Oliver; 2 great-grandchildren, Theron and Samuel. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and 3 sisters. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 am, at Faith Church, 900 Southern Ave., Rio Rancho. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Samuel’s name to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association. Cremation has been entrusted to the Neptune Society-Albuquerque.
