

Born in Pegueros Jalisco, Mexico, to Rita and Jose Gutierrez, Ricardo moved to Santa Monica, California, as a young child, where he developed a lifelong love of soccer. A gifted player, he was invited to train with the Mexican National Team as a teenager. He proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 102nd Airborne Unit and later built a successful career as a building maintenance engineer.
Richard made his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico and was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. He loved soccer, especially Manchester United and Portugal, where he had always dreamed of retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Jose Gutierrez, and his sister, Graciela Curiel. He is survived by his brothers, Hector and Alberto Gutierrez; his nieces, Grisel, Itzel, Xochitl, Rita, his nephews Omar and Adam and many loving family members and dear friends.
Ricky will be remembered for his big heart, loyalty, and favorite sayings, “Bueno” and “It’s all good.” He leaves behind countless people who were blessed to call him a friend.
A Military Honors and celebration of his life will be held in Santa Fe on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 9:45am at the National Cemetery followed by the celebration lunch at the Restaurant formerly called
The Bourbon Grill located at 104 Old Las Vegas Hwy, Santa Fe New Mexico.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose kindness touched so many lives.
There will also be a celebration of life held in Santa Monica on Sat Aug 15th at 11:00 am at The SM Moose located at 1600 Ocean Park Blvd in Santa Monica.
You are invited to join Ricky’s family and friends at one or both celebrations. He wanted a party at both.
