Raymond passed peacefully from this life December 21, 2024, with his daughter and son-in-law at his side. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Lee and Minnie Fort, and he was the 7th of 9 children. Ray attended Webster High School and was then drafted into the Army where he served as a Chaplain’s assistant. After discharge from the Army, he went to work at a credit company and then worked at City Bank in Tulsa for many years. He and two good friends decided to start American Technical Institute, a trade school, which was very successful. After selling the school, Ray semi-retired and moved his family to New Mexico where he got back into the finance business. Ray loved fly fishing and golf, and he was also proud of the fact that he was a 32nd Degree Mason. The joys of his life were his daughter and grandchildren. He is survived by Piper (Ben) Curry, daughter, and grandchildren Charlotte & Everett Curry of Albuquerque, New Mexico, his brother Donald (Nening) Fort of Claremore, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his brothers Clifford, Cecil, James, and Virgil Fort, and sister Joann Ward. Within a few hours of his passing, Raymond was joined in eternal life by his sister Betty Turner. Ray was an eternal optimist and had many, many fun sayings and jokes. He was generous to a fault and cared deeply for his family. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered in a peaceful fishing stream in Colorado or New Mexico at a later date. No services are scheduled.
