Ray Mack Kizer

1943 to 2026

Mack Kizer, born in 1943 in Roswell, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in July 2026 at the age of 82. Mack was an alumni of Eastern New Mexico University and a resident of Ruidoso, New Mexico, for more than 50 years. Mack was always an entrepreneur from pawn shops, dry cleaning business, crafting custom furniture, building spec houses, to selling real estate.

Those who knew Mack will remember his humor, his passion for hunting, and the easy way he made people feel like old friends.

Mack was an avid hunter and a master storyteller who never met a stranger. He made jokes and friends everywhere he went, and when you saw Mack, he always had a story to tell. He was the kind of legendary man who didn’t just hunt; he was a cowboy who commanded the room with quick wit, grit, and a charm you just don’t see anymore. They say they don’t make them like Mack anymore, likely because the mold was too tired to keep up with him. He left it all on the dirt and gave the rest of us one more story to tell. He will be missed and cherished by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clovis and Imagee Kizer, sister Kay Willis and husband Ken, and brothers Marion Kizer and Gerald Kizer.

He is survived by his son, Chad Kizer and wife Sheri; granddaughters Sydney Engert and husband Luke, and Corey Kizer and fiancé Sean Evanko; great-granddaughter Clara Evanko; nephew Todd Willis and wife Michelle; and niece Sabrina Willis.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mack’s life on August 29 in Ruidoso.
