Norma Ardelle Gruber passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023 after a long year of illness. Norma was born in Foley, Minnesota in 1941. She spent time living in Minneapolis, Minnesota after high school as well as in Denver, Colorado and in various parts of Wyoming. She hated the cold. After several vacation visits to New Mexico, in 1978 she decided to make the state her permanent home.
Norma’s entrepreneurial spirit drove her career choices. In Wyoming, she operated a cake decorating business making wedding and other special occasion cakes. After moving to New Mexico, she obtained her real estate license and spent more than a decade selling homes and working in mortgage banking.
As she contemplated the end of her life, Norma wrote, “God has a plan – and there go I.” Norma lived life on her own terms. Her Thanksgiving table was usually surrounded by individuals who had nowhere else to be on the holiday and whom she welcomed into her home. Her independent spirit touched many and will not be forgotten.
