Michael S Pittel

As part of the inaugural class of 1975, Michael graduated from the Bernalillo Fire Department Paramedic course. He served the community for many years as a paramedic and then pursued a career in law enforcement. He soon became a Deputy Sheriff with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department. Mike retired after 20 years of service earning the rank of Lieutenant.

An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Mike's bike of choice was a Harley Davidson until an accident derailed him in 2017.

Michael loved and enjoyed the company of his two cats, Clayton and Daleyne. He also enjoyed meeting law enforcement retirees on a weekly basis at the local Panera or Dave's High Desert Grill.

Mike is survived by a large extended family that will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Police facility in Albuquerque, NM on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
