Melvin Edward Mills passed away on April 11, 2025, at home in Los Lunas, New Mexico. He was born November 25, 1930, in rural Hernando County, Florida, on the Old Lykes Plantation to Sterling and Era Alice Fitzgerald Mills. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Bernice Mills, and sisters Rema Mae Ball of Pueblo, Colorado, and Alice New of Alaska. Numerous nephews and nieces.
Melvin was a heavy equipment operator and the owner of an auto repair business. After retirement, he stone-crabbed, fished, and pulled sponges in the Gulf of America off the shore of Hudson, Florida. Melvin enjoyed his life.
