May was born on November 1, 1932, in Kwangtung Province, China, to Mr. Jack Poy Huie & Mrs. Eng Huie.
In 1948, May married Mr. James Jew in Hong Kong. They settled in Washington, D.C., where their first son, Ronald, was born in 1949. With a job opportunity for James, the family relocated across the country in 1950 to Fresno, California. Later that year their daughter, Diana, arrived In 1953, James Jr., their younger son, was born.
May and James divorced in 1957. She remarried in 1958 to Mr. Kenneth Ko. They had a son, Steven, in 1963. In 1975, May and Kenneth divorced. She and Steven moved to the Los Angeles area shortly thereafter.
May met Mr. Donald (DJ) Jones in 1987 and they married in 2001. By this time they both were retired and enjoyed working on their Tustin home. They loved to go on sea cruises to visit new places and meet new friends. Some of their destinations included the Panama Canal, Alaska, the Caribbean, and Mexico.
May had many jobs over the years including being a waitress, hostess, tailor, department store worker, and an animation cel and fine arts painter. She received the most satisfaction from being a medical device assembler for Baxter Healthcare Products. She was promoted to Supervisor and traveled to Santo Domingo one summer to train workers at a new Baxter facility there.
May enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made beautiful garments and accessories for the special people in her life. Baking delicious sweets for family, friends and neighbors was a pastime she loved doing. She took pleasure in cooking family meals and entertaining friends at home.
May’s brothers, Mr. Kwok Wing Huie and Mr. Kwok Sin Huie; and her youngest son, Mr. Steven Ko, predeceased her.
May is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, DJ, and her loving children; Ronald (Karen) J., Diana (David) N., and James (Suzanne) J. She leaves behind six grandchildren; Colin (Chrysann) N., Kelli (Robert) B., Allison (Alex) C., Kimberly (Tallie) J., Daniel (Annika) J., and Laura (Luis) G. May was Great-Grandmother to Mikayla N., Josiah C., Oliver C., Miles N. and Max N. She was a caring and devoted Auntie to many relatives.
May was a beloved wife, mother, and good friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
There will be no funeral service in keeping with May’s wishes. The family will have a private memorial service for her in the near future.
