Malcolm Reid (Bob) MacPherson, age 88, died peacefully at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on July 7, 2023. He was the husband of Evelyn M. Kennedy. They shared 40 years together traveling far and wide and living in Germany, where they met, as well as the United States. He is also survived by his son, Gary MacPherson; granddaughters Maci and Tori MacPherson; and his brother Don McPherson.
Bob obtained a PhD in Physics from the University of California Riverside and had a long career as an executive in the semiconductor and equipment industries. He had a passion for classical music and an extensive electronic system for listening to it. He enjoyed working in his shop on his many projects and walking with his dogs (Amber, Champ and Hank) on the trail he forged from his home in Santa Fe.
Bob had an adventurous spirit, was a devoted conservationist/ecologist and was a contributor to many causes and organizations. As a young man he enjoyed hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, and skiing. He was a member of the Riverside Mountain Rescue Team and the National Ski Patrol. Following his retirement he said “I am a scientist” and avidly read his many scientific magazines and journals. Bob followed the reintroduction of the grey wolf at Yellowstone National Park with many visits to the park. He was an active contributor to the Lobos of the Southwest. He was also committed to sociopolitical issues and was a contributor to Indivisible of Santa Fe.
Forever in our hearts, he will be missed by many but never forgotten. Memorial donations may be made to Lobos of the Southwest (mexicanwolves.org) or The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (pulmonaryfibrosis.org).
