Mr. Wiskup was my 10th-grade English teacher at Hoover High. I was an average student and did not do well in English, but Mr. Wiskup was an excellent teacher. He was an unimpeachable man, resolute, filled with truth. When he spoke, you listened. Kids don't admire adults, and I don't think I realized it at the time, I admired Mr. Wiskup. I have thought of him often over the years because one day he taught us the Rule of The Thirds, a math concept used for composing a photograph, painting, or anything in art. Math, I was good at, but adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, English grammar, were difficult for me to grasp. The Rule of the Thirds, I understood immediately. I forgot why Mr. Wiskup taught us this, but the next year, in 11th grade, I took photography as an elective and got an A on the first test-- framing and composition-- after which, I decided I would become a photographer. And I did. I've been a photojournalist for over 40 years. I'm also a writer and have had short stories, essays, and several articles published over the years. Thank you Mr. Wiskup.

We loved Leon so very much. We spent many a holiday with Leon and Dorothy. They either came over or we visited them. He will surely be missed. He was always the "Life of the Party" always happy and smiling! You will be missed!!

My condolences to the family, friends, and many students he taught. May the Lord bring you all comfort. And may all whom ever came across him in life will be reunited with him again. I met Leon Wiskup briefly at my job of all places at Goodwill as Donation Attendant in 2017. Even this was brief in the middle of winter. He still got off his vehicle to say hi. Shook my hand gave me a hug. As he got ready to go. My point is if I got to knew him he would had good friend potential. We would had got along well despite our age difference. Seemed very kind, understanding, and down to earth. Anyone who knew him was very lucky to know him. I feel bad mine lasted less than 5 minutes. God willing I will get to know him in another time in the afterlife and thank him for his kind gesture and loving spirit. I will miss him even if I didn't know him long.
