Jeff Lynn Everist

Jeffery (Jeff) Everist died on December 4, 2024. He was born in Colby Kansas on October 9, 1946. He was married to his sweetheart Sarah for 57 years. He was the father of two sons, Joshua and Benjamin (Stony).

He is survived by his wife, Sarah, his son Benjamin, his daughter-in-law, Frances and his grandson, Samuel. He proceeded in death by his parents, Norma Jean and Donald Everist, and by his eldest son Joshua.

Jeff graduated with a BA in English from California State University in Chico and taught creative writing classes there. After the family moved to New Mexico, he worked first at Backwoods and then at REI for many years. He also wrote a fishing column for the Albuquerque Tribune until its demise.

Jeff loved being outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. He loved motorcycles and cars and the occasional trip to Las Vegas. He loved music, particularly the Grateful Dead. He will be missed.
