James Russell Lowell

Jim Lowell, age 84, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 30th, 2026. Over the years, he valiantly battled his numerous ailments from A to Z, many due to Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam, but finally, his lungs and heart could no longer support his body.

Jim loved Jesus Christ, his family and friends, and service to his country in the United States Air Force, serving for 23 ½ years both as enlisted and retiring as a commissioned officer. As a Certified Professional Logistician, Jim had over 30 years of experience in Military System Acquisition and Applied Logistics. While in the Air Force, Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering degree from New Mexico State University and a Master of Science in Engineering degree from Arizona State University.

After his military service, Jim became an independent consultant working on a number of projects that took him all over the world. Later in life, Jim ventured into a few less technical but equally rewarding opportunities. He co-founded the Amateur Athlete newspaper which focused on local sports and athletes, and was a partner in Excel Communications worldwide.

Jim loved life and was active in his community belonging to the Irish American Society, the German Club and the Sangre de Cristo Catholic Community as well as many professional organizations. He loved praying the rosary, teaching Sunday school, playing softball, dancing, singing, gardening, laughing, reading biographies and historical events, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Sharon (punkin’ babe), who he absolutely adored. Also surviving include their daughter Jennifer Paul (Leo), son Jeff Lowell (Carol), granddaughter Kaily Benedetti (Ryan), and great grandchildren Connor and Olivia. Also, due to blended families many other grandchildren and great grandchildren survive.

Due to Jim's wishes, his body has been cremated and will be interred at the Santa Fe military cemetery. Official services and his interment will be held at a later date likely in early 2027.
