Born in Tularosa, New Mexico, on May 15, 1929. Joe passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026.
Joe proudly served in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Pauline, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage, and Vivian, with whom he shared 9 years; his parents, Maximillian and Ignacia Salcido; and his brothers, Fred and Max Salcido.
He is survived by his children, Geretta Salcido de Abeyta (Ben), Katherine Salcido Salazar (Eliud), Robert Gerard Salcido, and Elizabeth Grace Salcido; his sisters-in-law, Margie Salcido, Tomasita Smith, and Antonia Ewing; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Grandchildren: Children of Geretta and Ben Abeyta; Audrey Deculus (Norman), Benjamin Adam Abeyta (Emily), Cynthia Anne Marie Abeyta and Daniel Lee Thomas Abeyta (Laura).
Children of Katherine and Eliud Salazar; Zaqueo Daniel Salazar (Sarah Christine), Casiano Andres Salazar and Ana Maria Guadalupe Salazar (Andrew).
Children of Elizabeth Grace Salcido; Michael Coyote Montoya and Dylan Forest Montoya.
Great-Grandchildren: Children of Audrey and Norman; Nickolas Hunter Ruiz, Isabella Amelia Downing and Alexandra Michelle Downing.
Children of Benjamin and Emily; Benjamin John Abeyta, Lydia Ruth Abeyta, Sadie Grace Abeyta and Samuel Joseph Abeyta.
