Eugene Leonard Lawson

A graduate of Dunbar High School and an Army Veteran, Eugene furthered his education at the Chicago Vocational/Electrical Training School, which led to a thirty-year career in telecommunications with Illinois Bell and Mountain Bell.

Eugene and wife Lesley, of over 25 years, raised a family of six children. Their life together started in the Midwest, after which they lived in the states of New Mexico, California and Arizona. Gene, as he was called by family, enjoyed listening to jazz music and gardening where he grew squash, zucchini and tended to his apple trees.

Our dear father departed on August 26, 2026. Gene was the last surviving sibling of his immediate family, which included brothers Theodore, William, Edward and Ronald. Sisters Althonia and Thelma; five children, Cathy, Linda, Leonard, Felicia and Tonya, (Vernon preceded him May 2025); 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and host of relatives and friends.

We celebrate his life with joy dedicated to the service of spreading the Good News of the Kingdom of Jehovah God and His son, Jesus Christ.

The Lawson Family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation all the phone calls, text messages, prayers and many expressions of love, concern and kindness during this time of bereavement. Thank you!

A Memorial Service will be held September 12, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Northeast Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 8904 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113.
