September 1, 2023. She was at home at the time of her passing.
Diane was born on February 15, 1933 and grew up in Michigan. She went to the University of
Michigan and was Editor In-Chief of the Michigan Daily newspaper. Later, she held editorial
positions at Cosmopolitan Magazine and Environmental Quality Review. She served her country,
working with the military in the late 1950s, stationed in Germany. While in Germany, Diane met her
husband Matthew Sloves and was married there soon after.
Adding another accomplishment to her list, Diane served as a docent at the Museum of Art and
History in Albuquerque, serving on the art acquisition committee. She worked there for over 30 years
before retiring in 2016.
Diane lived an incredible life. She survived cancer -- living as a cancer survivor for over 65 years. She
and Matthew Sloves celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past year, in July. She traveled to
more than 70 countries on six continents and lived life to the full, with gusto.
Diane was a strong, supportive, loving parent and friend, and had an incredible social life - summers
at Glen Lake in Michigan, skiing in Vermont, and going to Broadway shows with her family. Diane
delighted in her conversations about "solving the world's problems." She was passionate about
reading, international foods, New Mexican food, investing, art collecting, cultural events such as
dance, theater, and movies, skiing, and travel around the world. She was an active member of several
Jewish temples and synagogues, first in New York and then in Albuquerque. She was the curator of
many cherished family recipes and loved family get togethers.
Diane is survived by her Husband Matthew Sloves; her Sons David, Jonathan, and Andrew Sloves;
her Daughter-In-Laws Shanon Sloves, Dianna Sloves and Erin Sloves; her Grandchildren Jacqueline
Teran, Alexandra, Griffin, Claudia, Jason, Stephanie and Remy Sloves; her Great Granddaughter
