Tim was born in Albuquerque, NM on March 12, 1937. He graduated from Estancia High School and went to NM A&M (NMSU) as a student trainer in the Athletic Dept. He also worked for the University at Food Services where he met Janice May Buckner. Upon graduation, he and Jan married, and they had a long and happy marriage and life together that lasted 62 years living in Las Cruces. He loved people and enjoyed his career at White Sands Missile Range working for NMSU physical Science Lab (PSL) until retirement and then an additional 5 years at Cortez III.
Tim’s favorite hobby was building and planning and the process of figuring out how to accomplish what he wanted to do. He also enjoyed camping and traveling His greatest joy was his kids and grandkids. One of his favorite mottos was “Travel is not wearisome if you do not focus on your destination but enjoy every mile as you travel it”. He applied that motto to life.
Tim, along with two of his neighbors, purchased a small skid loader. It was Tim’s dearest worldly procession. He did lots of amazing things with it and was an avid volunteer for church projects.
Tim was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and dearly loved by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Alva Hays Timmons, his father William Edward Timmons and his only brother William Edward Timmons, Jr. He is survived by his wife Janice (Jan) Timmons, son William (Bill) Timmons, Bill’s wife Rita Timmons, daughter Becky Connell, Becky’s husband John Matthew (Matt) Connell, his four grandchildren John David Connell, Jessica Christianna Connell, Joseph Hays Timmons and Michael Wesley Timmons, and an extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and three dogs.
A celebration of life will be held at Morning Star Methodist Church on Friday, March 3rd at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Morning Star Church, 2941 Morning Star Dr. Las Cruces, NM 88011 if you wish or to your favorite charity.
