Col. (Ret) Clark E. Aamodt left this life for Life Eternal on October 5th, 2023. Clark was born on July 21st, 1934 to parents Conrad and Marie Amodt of Overly, North Dakota. He was the youngest sibling of a family of four children.
He enjoyed dry land farming with his father until he was accepted into Aviation Cadets in 1955. He graduated as a Lieutenant at Harlingen AFB, Texas. His first duty assignment was at Schilling AFB, Kansas where he served at a Navigator/Bombardier on a B-47 Strato Jet during the Cold War years.
During that time, he met and married Vicki M. McCollum of Rolette, N.D. and they had two daughters. The family enjoyed military life with a duty station at Barksdale AFB, LA ; he then was selected for the AFIT program at CSU in Fort Collins, CO where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics; he served as an EB66 navigator at Takhli RTAFB, Thailand during the Vietnam War; served at PACAF headquarters at Hickam AFB, Honolulu, HI in the Operations Directorate. Clark was then selected for the Air War College at Maxwell AFB. Montgomery AL , a Senior Professional school where he also received his Master of Public Administration at Auburn University. He was next assigned to the Office of Joint Chiefs Staff, Operations Directorate (J3) at the Pentagon, Washington D.C.
His final assignment was Chief, Nuclear Criteria Group Secretariat, at Kirtland AFB. NM
He retired from the USAF in July of 1979 after a distinguished career, having received the Air Medal (first and second oak leaf cluster); The Distinguished Flying Cross and The Legion of Merit among others.
In retirement, he enjoyed many years working in commercial real estate, participating in the Rotary Club of Albuquerque, and being an active member of his church, Faith Lutheran Church of Albuquerque, NM. He had a joyful and positive approach to life during his 89 years and made many dear friends along the way. He will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Vicki Aamodt and his beloved daughters, Gina Spencer, (Craig), and Geri Mulligan (Tom) as well as three grandchildren, Matt Mulligan, Jenna Mulligan and Brian Spencer (Jane), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held November 18th, 1:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain Road NE Albuquerque NM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Endowment Fund of Faith Lutheran Church of Albuquerque.
