Cecilia M Moniz

MONIZ-Cecilia Marie Moniz, age 97, of Albuquerque and formerly of San Leandro, CA, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 with her family at her side. She is survived by daughter, Marilyn Thornquist and husband, Geron; son, Thomas Moniz; grandchildren, Erik Thornquist, Heidi Thornquist and husband Denis Ridzal; great-grandchildren, Ona and Zane; sisters, Edna and Vera; brother-in-law David; sister-in-law, Judy; numerous nieces and nephews. Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Moniz; sister, Christine; and brother, Edward.

She was born in Fiume, Italy to Edward and Juana Sincich. She and her family moved to Richmond, CA in 1925, where she graduated from Richmond High School. She then worked at Ford Parts Depot in Richmond during WWII, where she met Adam. They were married in 1946, taking up residence in Oakland, CA. She worked for J.C. Penney in Oakland for many years. In 1962, they moved their family to San Leandro, CA. In 2013, she moved to Albuquerque to be near her family.

Cecilia will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Private, family services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Roadrunner Food Bank at:
