Bonnie was born Sept. 9, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland, where she spent her childhood and early adult years. She attended Towson University and earned a Bachelor of Art in English. While working for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, she met Jonathan (Jon/JK) Davis, whom she married in 1978.
Bonnie and Jon/JK made their home in and around Baltimore, Maryland, for many years. Bonnie spent all of her professional life with the Social Security Administration, working in the disability program throughout her career.
Following retirement, Bonnie and Jon/JK moved to southern New Mexico, embracing the opportunity to travel and explore together. Their adventures took them across the country and around the world, including numerous cruises and hot-air balloon festivals. Bonnie was also an enthusiastic collector, with particular affection for owls, Southwestern Indian pottery, and Kokopelli figures, reflecting her appreciation for the places and cultures she encountered. She was also known for her fierce game play in such games as Phase 10 and Mah-Jongg, her passion for counted cross-stitch that adorns the house, and her methodical approach to mystery reading, which had her read the entire Las Cruces library collection from A through M over 19 years.
Bonnie was, above all, a woman of uncommon clarity and conviction. Clear-sighted and forthright, she possessed a piercing ability to see people and situations as they truly were, and the personal integrity to act with unwavering conviction. Her dry wit occasionally revealed itself beneath an otherwise serious demeanor. She was steadfast in her friendships, devoted to her passions, and, most of all, deeply committed to her husband, Jon.
Together, Bonnie and Jon/JK made their retirement home in the shadow of the Organ Mountains outside Las Cruces. Bonnie delighted in the sweeping desert vistas and regularly shared their beauty and that of flora, fauna, and especially the sunsets over the Organ Mountains that graced the desert with friends and family. It was a fitting home for someone who found so much pleasure in exploring the world around her.
Bonnie’s preceding family includes her parents. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jonathan (Jon/JK) Davis; immediate family siblings Janice Mooneyham, Charlotte Brenner (Sayers), and Bryan Sprouse; nieces Megan Koontz (Zed Lynch), Elan Sprouse, Karen Leasure (Steve), and Jennifer Koontz (Dave); and nephews Cole Koontz (Madison), Nathaniel Koontz (Harlie), and Jacob Sprouse.
In accordance with her wishes, Bonnie will be cremated, and no memorial service is planned. Those wishing to honor Bonnie’s memory may consider a donation to MD Anderson Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society.
