Kathleen Dawn Hopper

Kathleen Dawn Hopper was an extraordinary friend, sister, and employer, but above all else, she was a fantastic and loving aunt. Aunt Kathleen, or simply Auntie, as she was known by so many, loved and protected all of her nieces and nephews immensely, both those who were related and those who were chosen. She doted on and flat out spoiled her girls: Rowan, Willow, and Tia. Nothing brought her more joy than showering her family with love. She couldn’t resist a kid’s school fundraiser or school play and her favorite tradition was taking the girls shopping for donations to Toys for Tots every Christmas to teach them about giving back to others.

She was well known for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, love of the color teal, and ability to shop (Amazon shed a tear at her passing). Kathleen loved the theater and was a season ticket holder with Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater where she enjoyed watching musicals with her friends and family. Her passion for the arts stemmed from her love of singing. She performed in the choir in her youth where she cultivated her beautiful singing voice.

In 2008 Kathleen opened her own employee benefits company, FlexToday. She was extremely proud of the successful business she built and the decades long clients she maintained. She treated her employees like family. Each month she took the whole office out for birthday lunch celebrations at the restaurant of choice for the birthday boy/girl. She threw the most extravagant company Christmas parties at Plaza Ventana, Annex Kitchen, and Max’s, complete with Plinko and the Saran Wrap gift ball game, something that one and all looked forward to at the end of each year.

In life she was a regular donor to Cat House on the Kings and Planned Parenthood. In death, she was able to give the ultimate gift as an organ and tissue donor. Kathleen was a beautiful human being and will be profoundly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to either of the above organizations or to Sierra Donor Services.
