Norm was born to Clair and Clarice Parker on December 30, 1942, and passed away on November 8, 2023, at the age of 80 years of age due to complications with long term health conditions.
Norm was born at home in Granger, WA to Clair and Clarice Parker on December 30, 1942. During his childhood he loved to play Indian and ride horses, rough house with his brothers, and enjoy his mothers cooking. Norm graduated from Granger High School in 1961. He played basketball, football, and participated in track and field. He held the discus record for many years.
After graduation Norm played football for a year at YVCC. He then decided to go to Seattle to look for work. After around a year of working in Seattle he then enlisted into the Navy. In the Navy he became a sonarman on the USS Tang. While serving he was then stationed in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor where he met the love of his life and future wife Lucille.
On May 1st, 1968, Norm and Lucille got married in Coeur d’Alene, ID. After their wedding they moved to Norms hometown where they started their family with Darryl, Theresa, and Robert. In 1969 they added to the family with Daniel then in 1974 Jessica was born completing their family.
Norm worked on the family farm until 1991. He then started working for R&A where he cowboyed for a few years until he had to get “A real job again”. This is when he started working for the Granger school district in maintenance and custodial, later becoming one of the most beloved bus drivers for the Granger school district.
Norm had many hobbies including writing cowboy poetry, playing guitar, writing songs, team roping, braiding rawhide, hunting, fishing, training horses, camping with his family and friends, trail riding, participating in brandings, and riding his motorcycle. Also, another of his greatest joys was watching and supporting his daughter Jessica while she rodeoed and supporting Dans love of music.
Norm is proceeded in death by his immediate family, Father Clair Parker, Mother Clarice Parker, and Son Robert Parker. Norm is survived by his wife Lucille Parker, Sons, Darryl Parker, and Daniel (Christa) Parker, daughters Theresa (Troy) Cates, Jessica Parker, brothers David (Shirley) Parker, Richard Parker, and numerous cousins.
The Parker family would like to extend a warm invitation by joining them at the Celebration of Life services for Norm that will be held at the Liberty Community Church, 670 Liberty Road, Outlook, WA on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 1:00pm with a reception to follow at the church.
