Howard Bock Fee Gee passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, just three days shy of his 85th birthday. Born on January 13, 1941, Howard lived a life defined by devotion to family, friends, and country. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila, and daughter, Dorian (Alexander) Granados; two granddaughters, Emma and Sophia Granados; three siblings, Betty Gee, Bernice (Edward) Yee, and Herbert (Carolyn) Gee; and numerous nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Gee, and two siblings, Marilyn (Kenneth) Lee and Harvey Gee.
Howard started cooking at an early age. Although his parents primarily made Chinese food at the family restaurant, he enjoyed developing his culinary skills by making American favorites like pies, roasted turkey, ribs and steaks for his siblings and parents. He loved to cook for large groups and even helped his sister with a church event that required 6 roasted turkeys. He also worked in the kitchen while he was on a ship during his service in the army. Family and friends enjoyed watching him practice his talents and consuming the fruits of his labor.
He proudly served in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty, discipline, and quiet patriotism. His military service shaped the character many came to know well: steady, dependable, and deeply committed to doing what was right, even when it was hard.
He possessed extensive experience as a draftsman, technical writer, and inspector across several major aerospace and engineering firms, including ITT-Gilfillan, Litton Industries, and Teledyne. He capped off his career at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), where he worked as a draftsman and ultimately retired as an inspector for the Water Conservation Division.
An adventurer at heart, he traveled the world through his military career and alongside his family. His journeys took him across Asia, Europe, eastern and western Canada, the U.S., and anywhere a cruise ship could sail, though Las Vegas always held a special place on his itinerary. Ever the meticulous planner, he found immense joy in the research and anticipation of a trip. He loved the mapping and organizing just as much as the vacation itself.
Above all else, Howard was devoted to his family. He was a loving and dedicated husband to his beloved wife, Sheila, whose dreams and accomplishments he wholeheartedly supported. When Sheila pursued her master’s degree and later advanced her career with the Los Angeles Unified School District, Howard stood faithfully by her side, encouraging her every step of the way. He understood the sacrifices required and willingly made them, ensuring that his family was cared for while Sheila studied and worked.
During those years, Howard lovingly cared for their daughter, Dorian. He prepared meals for her, taught her daily tasks and life skills, and provided the steady guidance and nurturing presence every child needs. Through countless ordinary moments that became extraordinary acts of love, Howard demonstrated what it means to faithfully serve one’s family. His care allowed Sheila to pursue her education and career with confidence, knowing that Dorian was in loving and capable hands.
Howard’s love was expressed not only through words but through daily acts of service. He faithfully loved, served, and cared for both Sheila and Dorian throughout his life. His sacrifices were often quiet and unseen, but their impact was immeasurable. The strength of his character and the depth of his devotion created a foundation of love that blessed his family for generations.
In later years, Howard’s heart was filled with joy by his son-in-law, Alex, and his beloved granddaughters, Emma and Sophia. He treasured time with them and took great pride in watching his family grow. For him, babysitting his granddaughters was never a chore, but rather a precious gift that allowed him to actively shape their worlds. In the kitchen, his patient hands guided their small ones, turning simple recipes into treasured lessons on patience and creativity. Their travel adventures became his favorite chapters in life, offering beautiful moments to teach his granddaughters how to navigate the world with courage and curiosity. Seeing his wisdom take root in their young lives gave Howard a deep, quiet joy, knowing that his love would forever be woven into the women they were becoming. His gentle spirit, wisdom, and unwavering love will remain a cherished part of their lives.
Howard’s love was not loud, but it was constant. He showed care with his presence, wisdom through listening, and love by the way he lived each day. His strength was gentle, his words measured, and his loyalty unwavering. Those who knew him will remember his calm spirit, his reliability, and the sense of peace he carried with him.
Howard leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faithfulness that will continue through the generations he so deeply loved. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
